What are suggestions to solving the flys and noseems which plague every eating establishment. I would love to hang a fly catcher over every table but that would only last for one night before I close my doors for good!Some spray at night. How best to do that? Solutions?Thanks,Bill Higgins

Small flys are definitely a problem for a lot of restaurants. Like Byron suggested you can use special wall sconce lighting to control regular house flys. These are also called uplights. They will run you anywhere from $50 to $200 a light depending on how nice you want to go. They have a special pheremone scented glue board next to the uv light inside the uplight. Your pest control company should be able to get these lights for you and service them monthly. If you have already complained and they haven't suggested these, they probably don't know that much about commercial pest control in the restaurant business. These lights are standard in almost all major restaurants. Next time you go to any national chain just look on the wall, they will be all over the place. They look nice, but they are really fly traps.Secondly, small flys like drain flys and fungus gnats are coming from areas like your drains in the floor, and greasy spots under your cooking equipment. These areas need to be cleaned with special cleaner that I call bio-cleaner. There are several of these on the market. These special bio-cleaners actually have a bacteria in them which will eat all the grease and gunk right out of your drains and right off your floors. Drain flys breed in the gunk down your drains, and yes they don't wash away when water goes down the drain. You can mop daily with a bio-cleaner and this will eat all the grease right off of your floors. I am talking about new revolutionary products for the restaurant business. Your drains can be treated with a bio-gel that is water proof. The bacteria will continue to clean the drains, even as you use them everyday. This will kill the larvae and eggs down your drains. This means no more of those little nasty flyers over your patrons. One more thing, check your shipments of food thoroughly before you let them in the door. They may be coming to you with little fruit flys and other flying pests right from the farm, factory, or wharehouse. Hope this helps. You can ask me a question anytime on my blog. Not trying to toot my own horn here. I am just explaining my reasons for starting this blog. Since April of 1997 I have been involved in the pest control industry. First as a technician for Truly Nolen, and then in 1999 as a small business owner and pest control operator, or PCO. I have done over 25,000 pest control services in my pest control career and have been to countless training seminars and read numerous books and magazines on pest control.

In short I am excited to share what I know firstly, with my customers and secondly with anyone who may need a little expert advice.
